St John the Baptist Coptic Orthodox Church, Johnson City, TN

St. John the Baptist Coptic Orthodox Church is a member of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of the Southern United States under the auspices of His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef. Our mission is to bring the Coptic church’s rich history into an ever-changing and diverse American culture. We strive to provide a place of worship to people of all languages and backgrounds while observing the sacraments and ancient traditions of the Coptic Orthodox Church.

By the grace of God, His Eminence Metropolitan Youssef assigned our beloved Fr. Theophilus Mikhail, the secretary of the Coptic Orthodox Diocese of Southern US, to expand the service of the Coptic Orthodox Southern US Diocese to the Tri-Cities area. Fr. Theophilus started the first service at our church in on Saturday Jan 31st, 2025, under the name of St. John the Baptist.

Our congregation has seen the hands of God working to establish the church with miracles and divine interventions in every step of the way.

Many families have joined our congregation and moved to enjoy all what the area has to offer starting from the various job opportunities to the moderate weather, and the beautiful scenery of the Smokey Mountains, a world-renowned vacation destination.
